The Oasis International Training Centre is beginning its fifth year of classes! The year 2007 was a fruitful year for the work in Ghana. God continues to move in the lives of the people of Ghana.

The founder and president of the Oasis Churches and Oasis Training Center, Bishop Elvina E. Miller, D.D., has recently celebrated her 92nd birthday and yet has been able to administrate the work of the Training Centre from her home base in Shippensburg, PA!

The vision for this Centre began over 50 years ago when Bishop Miller realized the call of God in her life to go to Africa. She was invited to visit the village of Prampram, where the annual Fetish festival was being held. The powers of darkness which captivated both the people and the community could not withstand the power of Almighty God, demonstrated in the life of Bishop Miller. (The full account of this story is told in her book, Captured in Africa, available in paperback for $7.00 or hardback for $15.00)

Seeing the need of this people for the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, she desired for many years to return there. Finally in 1990, she made her way again to Prampram! Although many churches had been established in the village, she sensed a need for more Biblical training. The desire to meet this need culminated in the acquisition of property for the purpose of building a Training Centre.

Since its opening in 2002, the Training Centre has offered classes in Leadership, Financial Management, Understanding God Bible Class, Old Testament Tabernacle, Basic Computer Applications, English, and Study of the Human Body. Students walk, ride their bicycles, travel by taxi and a limited number drive from neighboring towns to attend daily classes. Their hunger for learning, especially for the Word of God, is admirable. Pastors of many churches in the area are being instructed in the ways of God, which influences the people of their congregations. Bishop Miller continues to teach many of the classes and daily ministers on a personal level with pastors and church leaders.

For more information on this mission in Ghana, please e-mail. The financial burden of the work is great, but our God is greater and has been supplying all of our needs. We are so thankful for what He has done to bring this vision to pass! He is a Mighty God!

Currently the classes being taught at the Training Centre are computer software (Microsoft Office) and computer hardware. We are also teaching a full compliment of Pastoral Leadership classes and basic Biblical Classes. It is always a delight to hear students who have gone through the classes in the past share their experiences how the Oasis Training Centre has made a difference in their lives.

An exciting development of recent times has been the start of Children’s classes on a Saturday morning. These classes are currently serving between 100 - 175 children each weekend! These are tomorrow’s leaders, and they are learning through skits, songs, role play, and teaching that God loves them. God has made a way for this to happen, because it was not our desire!

Another outreach of the Training Centre has been the partnership with the Prampram Health Clinic. We have been assisting with financial help, and with logistics, in seeing the completion of the Recovery Ward and the Fence Wall. We are excited that we have been GIVEN the use of a new technology block making machine that will help to speed up these projects and also cut down on the expense! Both these projects will help improve the sanitation and health care for the people of Prampram.

So, what can you do to help? Well, the greatest thing is prayer! Please pray for the work in Ghana, and for those who are presently laboring there. Rev. Ambrose Brennan and his wife Susie are doing a wonderful job of administrating the day-to-day happenings of the Training Centre. Bishop Miller is assisted with her grandson Rev. Art Speck, who is Pastor Myrna's youngest son in overseeing this mission work.

UNDER THE MANGO TREE, EATING ITS FRUIT

November 21, 2005

BOOK LAUNCHING PLANNED FOR DECEMBER 4TH

In 1953, Elvina E. Miller, then a young woman in her thirties, did something that not many had done before...she traveled to the continent of Africa...alone. The opportunity she had while she was there was tremendous as she was able to fulfill a dream of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ to thousands. Little did she know that many years later, she would be able to witness the results of the many crusades she held, as well as other ministers who worked in Africa during those days.

After years of research, Bishop Elvina E. Miller, or Sister Miller as she is commonly called, was able to gather the material found in her newest book, UNDER THE MANGO TREE, EATING ITS FRUIT. In this hardback edition are the stories and histories of churches being founded, testimonies of miracles, and the evidence of the power that the gospel of Jesus Christ has on a nation, specifically the country of Ghana, and on a world.

Bishop Miller is the mother of The Huntingdon Oasis of Love Church’s founder and senior Pastor, Rev. Myrna Speck. Her son and associate Pastor, Rev. Art Speck, has spent many months the past several years in Prampram, Ghana, West Africa, where he serves as Director of The Oasis International Training Centre, offering both Biblical and vocational studies. The Training Centre was founded and established by his grandmother, Bishop Miller. Bishop Miller’s first hard back book, CAPTURED IN AFRICA, relates the story of her capture and miraculous deliverance on that first trip to Africa. This event took place in Prampram where the Training Centre now stands. In Bishop Miller’s new book, UNDER THE MANGO TREE, EATING ITS FRUIT, Rev. Art Speck gives proof to many of the events through his journal entries and a number of pictures as well.

The book, UNDER THE MANGO TREE, EATING ITS FRUIT, is being introduced the African way, at a "BOOK LAUNCHING." Please join us on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Oasis of Love Church, RR #3, Station Road, Huntingdon (across from Southside Elementary School), as we "LAUNCH" the book UNDER THE MANGO TREE, EATING ITS FRUIT. You will have your chance to buy a copy, and see and hear testimonies of what all God is doing on the earth today. Bishop Miller who will be 90 in March, 2006, is still actively spreading the Gospel in Africa, where she spends most of her time at the Training Centre.
